Landmark Judgement


The Supreme Court of India ruled that a state Governor cannot indefinitely delay or refuse to sign bills passed by the state legislature. The Court said the Governor must act within set time limits and follow the advice of the state’s elected government, except in a few special cases. This decision prevents misuse of the Governor's powers and ensures smoother functioning of state governments in line with democratic and constitutional principles.
